Bidding for P10.53 Million Port Began

The Philippine Port Authority-Port District Office of Southern Mindanao started on 30 December 2011 the bidding of the P10.53-million worth of project for the contruction of the Sindangan Port Terminal building and management office.

This was on the heel of a recently started bidding for the dredging in the port vicinity, a project amounting to P84.48 million.

Fiscal Receives Arrested Gold Panners

At least 15 gold panners, caught engaged in small-scale mining activities at Sitio Dominatag, Barangay Malayal in Sibuco, are brought to the Fiscal's Office inquest proceedings. When arrested they were excavating an area close to 10,000 square meters. Confiscated from the group two shotguns, various mining equipment, and chemicals. They are residents of Zamboanga City and adjacent towns of Siocon, Sirawa, and Baliguian.

Illegal mining operations in Sibuco has greatly contributed to the pollution of the Malayal River, its source of potable water and farm irrigation.
